Beginning next week, Amazing Amy’s Writing Club will be making some changes. First, Amazing Amy’s Writing Club for young writers ages 8+ will be moving to Monday afternoons from 4-5 pm. Our first Monday workshop (March 11th) will cover tricks for getting the imagination flowing when pesky writer’s block threatens to close in. If you haven’t yet had a chance to join in on the fun, this would be a great class to start!
Secondly, thanks to popular demand, Amazing Amy’s Writing Club will be expanding in order to also offer a Junior edition for children ages 4-7. Amazing Amy’s JUNIOR Writing Club will take place on Thursday afternoons from 4-4:30pm. This Junior edition of the popular writing club will focus on skill development in a fun and creative environment. For our first workshop (March 14th), our young(er) writers will be using descriptive writing to give clues describing objects around them. The clues will have to be really specific, so our fellow detectives can solve the mystery. For questions about either group, or to register, stop by the store or call 513.731.2665. Really looking forward to meeting more future authors!
Meanwhile, the original Amazing Amy’s Writing Club has continued with its zany zest for imaginative writing. Last week, we worked together on a literary mashup of a western fantasy thriller short story. We had to work as a team to combine elements from each genre into one cohesive story. You can read our efforts below:
Then, for our last Wednesday meeting, we wrote How-To guides for our readers. However, this time our writing took a new direction. Instead of focusing on the fictional and the fantastical, our guides had to be works of nonfiction. That is, they had to be so realistic that the step-by-step advice could actually work in today’s real world. You can check out the results by clicking here.
It’s been a blast sharing a love for writing and storytelling with such enthusiastic writers, and I can’t wait to share the fun with a new group!
