World Book Day and a Special Birthday

world book dayToday, Wednesday, April 23, marks the World Book and Copyright Day. This is the day to celebrate and appreciate all things literary. Perhaps more importantly, this is a day to promote literacy. You can learn more about World Book and Copyright Day by clicking here. So join us in this international celebration of the joys and benefits of reading by stopping by the store and passing on your favorite reads to a new generation.

As Dr. Seuss reminds us, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

The Bard died on this day, and while no one knows the true date of his birth, many believe his birthday to be today as well. So Happy 450th Birthday to William Shakespeare! To celebrate, consider reading a few of his sonnets (April is poetry month after all), or try Shakespeare for the younger set with Usborne’s Illustrated Stories from Shakespeare. It’s never to early to introduce a young one to the classics.
